We asked Tiwaysyya to share some thoughts on her experience with us, and here’s what she had to say…
Tell us about your educational background. What are you pursuing as a Degree and why?
I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Imperial College London. My interest in Biochemistry was sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, during which I delved deeply into topics related to vaccinations, viruses, and transmissions. This exploration captivated me, drawing my attention to this field of science that plays a pivotal role in addressing real-world challenges.
What made you choose to do your internship at KASS?
I don’t believe in limiting oneself to a specific field, which is why I chose to venture into an entirely different area from my degree. My fascination with the legal field, particularly Intellectual Property, led me to research KASS. After reading previous intern testimonials on their website, I became convinced that KASS was the ideal place for me to gain valuable insights into the intriguing world of Intellectual Property.
How has your experience with KASS been? What specific skills or experiences do you hope to gain during this internship?
Working at KASS has been an incredibly delightful experience. I consider myself fortunate to have been surrounded by amazing colleagues whose guidance and support have had a lasting impact on me. The valuable advice and lessons I’ve received are something I will carry forward in my career journey.
During my internship, I gained valuable practical experience and honed essential skills, including effective teamwork, communication, workplace etiquette, writing, and research, among others. Additionally, I had the opportunity to collaborate with different departments, such as patent, franchising, and translation. This exposure provided me with a rich understanding of various facets of the corporate world.
What are your passions / interests in life?
My primary areas of interest revolve around the fascinating scientific fields of cancer research and the gut microbiome. Alongside this, I hold a passionate interest in entrepreneurship and start-up culture. I believe that merging these interests could open up exciting possibilities for my future pursuits.
What are some of your hobbies or interests outside of your academic and professional life?
In my free time, you’ll often find me immersed in the pages of a good novel; I’m an avid bookworm. I’m passionate about learning languages and at the moment I’m focused on picking up Italian, and indulging in true crime TV shows. Currently, I’m hooked on ‘Friends,’ and I’ve probably rewatched it about ten times.
Do you have a favourite musician or band?
I have quite diverse tastes in music, so my playlist really depends on my mood. My favorites range from pop music by artists like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande to the smooth classics performed by Michael Bublé and Frank Sinatra.
Any Netflix shows or movies you’ve enjoyed recently?
‘Friends’ has always been my go-to comfort show; it’s the perfect way to unwind after a long day of studying. Recently, I’ve found myself thoroughly enjoying ‘The Blacklist’ as well.
